The White House

Our Support

At The White House, we support up to 7 adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism. We focus on empowering the people we support to develop their skills and to progress along their recovery pathway. The White House provides active support, this model offers people a carefully planned and risk managed independent pathway.

The service recognises that each person is has different aims and objective in which they want to achieve, this may range from achieving daily living skills to total independence. The home uses a wide range of tools to ensure successful outcomes.

Person-Centred Planning

Our staff support each person to create a person-centred plan that tells us how they want to live their life now and in the future. Through a range of communication tools, we ensure that each person is closely involved in the development of their own plan.

We assign key workers on a 1:1 basis and use a person-centred approach, which enables us to:

• Working towards independence with personal care tasks
• Skills building to manage money
• Travel training to gain confidence and independence
• Learning to stay healthy and exercising
• Support with medication and health appointments
• Discovering new hobbies, getting out and having fun!
• Accessing vocational training and work experience
• Managing correspondence and bills
• Building social skills and expanding social Circles
• Access to independent advocacy

We have a commitment to ensuring individuals get the right level of care and support suited to them. Our focus is on giving people as much independence and control over their own lives. We encourage individuals to learn new skills and set goals to work towards. All care packages are regularly monitored to include any changes that can enhance each person’s health and enjoyment. The highly train staff at The White House put the people we support at the centre of everything we do and they have a positive and encouraging approach. All our staff receive continuous specialist training that enable them to support the specific needs of the people we support.

Location

Bridgend, where The White House is situated, is a town and community in the borough of Bridgend County Borough in Wales – 20 miles from Swansea and 20 miles from Cardiff.

The White House is nestled within a beautiful, quiet, cul-de-sac in the Brackla community district area of Bridgend – offering safety, community spirit and tree-lined streets. Most importantly, everyone who resides or visits the ara is made to feel extremely welcome.

Bridgend and it’s close surroundings hosts an array of local shops, sports clubs, a cinema and restaurants and cafes. The White House regularly organises local trips for days out with the people we support to the local cities, Swansea and Cardiff, which sit just 30 minutes drive away. A big favourite amongst the people we support is the trips to the coast. Newport Beach and Ogmore-by-sea are just 15 minutes away!

Due to its proximity to the neighbouring cities, there is a host of local hotels, campsites, hostels and bed & breakfasts suitable for family members of the people we support to extend their visit – if they live away from the area.
