About Us
At Chesterwood, we offer support for up to 5 individuals with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Our focus is on enhancing independence and improving quality of life after injury, fostering a friendly, encouraging, and nurturing environment. We collaborate closely with each individual to understand their unique aims and aspirations, translating these into practical daily living goals. Community integration is central to our approach, and we have established strong connections with various recreational, vocational, healthcare professionals, and support networks in the area.
Our Support
At Chesterwood, our ethos revolves around providing exceptional support to individuals navigating life with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). We pride ourselves on a holistic approach, valuing each person beyond their injury and focusing on their individuality. Our dedicated team is committed to nurturing social skills, empowering individuals to thrive despite the challenges posed by ABI. We create a safe, predictable environment that fosters personal growth while emphasising choice and participation in meaningful community activities.
Our goal is to enhance independence, understanding that behaviours may stem from diverse sources, and providing specialised care from knowledgeable staff. We collaborate closely with external professionals, families, and friends, tailoring personalised plans that aim to promote cognitive improvement and independence. At Chesterwood, our unwavering dedication lies in supporting individuals with ABI to live fulfilling lives and achieve their aspirations.
Accommodation
Chesterwood offers five bedrooms, with three of them featuring ensuites for added comfort and privacy. The people we support can enjoy a communal open plan lounge and dining area,
a well-equipped kitchen, a relaxing conservatory, and access to a good-sized accessible garden.
Location and Transport
Nestled in King’s Heath, Birmingham City, Chesterwood enjoys a strategic location approximately 6 miles from the bustling town centre. The nearby King’s Heath train
station ensures easy commuting, while the frequent Bus Number 50 service, available every 10 minutes, provides direct access from King’s Heath High Street to the town
centre. Further enhancing connectivity, regular Bus Routes 11A and 11C run every 10-15 minutes, traversing various parts of Birmingham in a convenient circular route.
Within the vibrant King’s Heath locale, the people we support have access to an array of amenities. Nearby, there is a church, cinema, bowling alley, coffee shops, banks, and several supermarkets within close proximity. Moreover, a doctor’s surgery and the QE Hospital are readily accessible, ensuring comprehensive healthcare provisions for the people at Chesterwood.

CC’s journey showcases tremendous growth. From struggling with personal care upon arrival, they now embrace a routine, enjoying regular baths and demonstrating newfound
independence by preparing meals.
PS and GA accomplished their set goals by independently crafting their daily sandwiches, a testament to their dedication and progress.
Our unforgettable day trip to the Safari Park was a collective highlight, brimming with joy and cherished memories for everyone involved.
These milestones represent the determination, resilience, and progress of the individuals at Chesterwood, reflecting their remarkable journeys and the supportive environment we
foster.
