Annual Report 2023
Keys Group is pleased to announce the publication of its Annual Report for 2023.
Cranwell Court supports seven people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health needs. We provide meaningful support and encouragement and recognise that each person is an individual with differing needs. Our goal is to enable people to structure their time; build relationships and establish a balance between activities, self-care, work and leisure, as appropriate to their individual needs. We believe in empowering everyone we support by working with and not for and we use our experience to help people on their journey towards greater independence and a fulfilling life.
Our staff support each person to create a person-centred plan that tells us how they want to live their life now and in the future. Through a range of communication tools, we ensure that each person is closely involved in the development of their own plan. Each person discusses their likes, interests, goals and aspirations with their Key Worker. These could include starting a college course, having a job, wanting to cook or just having the confidence to go to the shops. Staff support people towards achieving their goals. Our person-centred approach ensures the focus remains entirely on enabling the people we support to have the highest quality of life, choice, independence and happiness.
We recognise the importance of providing a person-led service and helping people to move progressively through their care pathway towards greater independence. Cranwell Court has a huge garden which is managed and maintained by a person we support. Another individual has obtained his NVQ Level 1 in Catering and has also been engaged in part-time voluntary work.
We are committed to enabling people to move on and step down to more independent models of support. We have recently supported two individuals to step down and move on to Supported Living.
Some examples of how we have supported people include
Our experienced and well trained staff are supported by our Autism Advisor, Clinical Support Nurses, Communication Development Workers, Psychologists and Behavioural Advisors. Their role is to work collaboratively with staff to develop and review support plans and introduce proactive strategies. Working alongside our staff teams, they support people at times of extreme challenge or crisis. All therapeutic input is integrated into daily strategies or functional measured goals in line with the individual’s aspirations.
Cranwell Court is located in a quiet village of Wyboston in Bedfordshire. This extensive refurbished property has five spacious en-suite bedrooms and 2 studio apartments. Communal areas consist of a lounge, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and large garden.
This specialist support model offers people a carefully planned and risk managed independent pathway, within a residential setting. This model is proven to be successful in providing a rehabilitation, focused transition from residential services towards independence or community supported living services.
Our studio apartments offer a clear progression pathway, within a residential support setting. The pathway offers an opportunity for self-development and maximum personal growth, regardless of complex health and social care needs. The apartments provide a private space for staff to enable skill development or coaching sessions. People can trial independence in a setting which has 24 hour staffing available, to assist with development of their life skills. We feel that the establishment of our semi-independent transition studio apartments, enables people who want to live more independently, take those first steps to greater independence within a safe, risk managed atmosphere.
