Annual Report 2023
Keys Group is pleased to announce the publication of its Annual Report for 2023.
Kemble House supports 15 people with Learning Disabilities and Autism to develop their skills and work towards living the life they want to live. To achieve this, we work in partnership with family, friends, local authorities and advocates to create an individual care plan.
We encourage each person to fully embrace their uniqueness and have an awareness of their disability, so that they are prepared to understand what is necessary to over-come difficulties and strive to accomplish more.
Our primary aim is to provide the highest quality care for each person we support and to promote their health and happiness. We always concentrate not on what the people we support can’t do, but on what they can do and how can this be improved upon. We want to see things through each person’s eyes, so we truly understand their goals and aspirations. We support people to take risks and find innovative ways to enable them to achieve their dreams in a safe way.
We hold a dedicated Autism Discussion Group every month where we invite others to participate in discussions about the understanding of Autism, the impact it has on them and the people around them.
At Kemble House we also have a dedicated Reflexology room, where one-to-one sessions can take place to help calm, reflect and relax the mind and body.
Education is important to us, so we encourage people we support to get an education and work as a means of boosting their self-esteem, confidence and feel that they positively contribute to the local community. We work with such organisations as Mencap, Resources4Autism and St Joseph’s College, to help prepare them for the future. Several people at Kemble House are currently doing part-time courses in computers, art and photography.
There is also a social club every week that gives all of the people we support a great opportunity to meet up with other people. We strongly encourage a positive social life style as it boosts self-esteem. Friendships are important to us all, and so all deserve to have friends we can relate to.
We believe that we here at Kemble House to make it our goal to strive and achieve, so that the people we support, succeed in their ambitions. The staff receive on-going training so that they are up-to-date with the latest policies and procedures in place. Our policy is to provide an exceptional quality of service, this is why we offer our staff the opportunity to progress within the company. Staff are supported to complete educational courses such as QCF’s and an Autism course at Birmingham University.
We have several people going to college, doing courses they themselves have chosen, and the feedback is really positive. Volunteering jobs are plentiful in London and some of the people here have been able to hold-down their jobs for a number of years, positively taking themselves back and forth to work, using public transport.
Each person has the opportunity to make their personal dreams come true. Trips to France and Caribbean cruises with staff support, are becoming more and more common and we encourage more of it.
Kemble House has a vision, and this vision in encapsulated in the company’s logo. Making every day amazing is our ultimate goal, because Kemble House is where real life skills are gained, so that the people we support can progress to living more independently.
Autism Profiles are tailor-made to each individual, because we understand that no two people are the same. Everyone is an individual with their own personal needs and goals. Our risk assessments and support plans are all uniquely created for each individual so we can assess the best ways to help them to flourish and progress.
Kemble House is a listed building and it has 15 en-suite rooms. There is 24-hour staffing support which means each person always has the help they want, when needed. We have a flat that can house a single person, with all the facilities they need to live as independently as possible, with having staff available for support when required. On 2 floors we have a kitchen, dining room, lounges and a garden. We have 2 company vehicles, and being in a prime part of Barnet, we are not short of local transport in the area, providing convenient access to Central London and surrounding areas.
An eighteen year old person recently moved into Kemble House. The individual was extremely anxious so with input from the clinical team and the dedicated support from staff he has become very settled at Kemble House. He has progressed so much that he is looking to enrol at the local art college this September.
Although at times the individual has been extremely challenging, staff have made his placement a success by making him feel secure in his new home. It has been a complete change from when he first arrived at the home and everyone is very proud of the progress that has been made.
