ABI Week – Harvey Road Success Stories
This week is Action for Brain Injury Week and the theme is “see the hidden...
Almost 50 trees will be planted at services across Accomplish Group to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The saplings and potted trees will form part of the Queen’s Green Canopy, a project to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.
They will be planted or placed in the grounds and gardens of the Group’s specialist residential care homes and supported living services.
Accomplish supports more than 1,000 people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, autism and acquired brain injury across England and Wales.
With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC encourages planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the nation, which will benefit future generations.
Katie Drakeford, Commercial Director at Accomplish, said: “The Plant a Tree for the Jubilee and Queen’s Green Canopy initiative is a wonderful way of not just celebrating 70 years of her Majesty’s reign as Queen, but also to benefit the environment. We’re delighted that our services are playing their part.
“Our services range from supported living services where people are supported to live in their own home through to residential homes which may have larger gardens.
“We didn’t want to restrict this lovely initiative only to those services and homes where there was space to plant a tree in the garden, and so along with saplings, we also bought a range of potted trees so smaller services and individuals could also get involved and benefit too. Planting is already well underway and we’re very much looking forward to watching the trees thrive.
“Gardening, and gardens themselves, are proven to help benefits people’s mental health and well-being as well as benefiting the environment, so this is a wonderful project to mark the very special reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
