Keys Group is pleased to announce the publication of its Annual Report for 2023.
Cheshire-based Care Team Highly Commended at Prestigious Awards Ceremony
The significant positive impact a Cheshire-based care team has had on a person’s life has been recognised at a prestigious awards ceremony.
The team, from Accomplish Group’s Cheshire and Greater Manchester Supported Living service, were highly commended in The Housing With Care Award at the national finals of the Great British Care Awards, having won their North-West heat last year.
The judges at the national finals commented: “This team were deeply passionate about dealing with and managing crisis situations. They are extremely person centred and had a particularly good ability to observe and then act. Brilliantly forward thinking. Jamie (the manager) demonstrated a broad knowledge of housing with care. He is clearly involved in day to day care whilst being an active leader also. He gave some outstanding examples of how input from his team has led to more independent living, from a near placement failure to a holiday in Portugal. Excellent team and leadership.”
Supported living services, such as those provided by Accomplish Group around the North West and across England and Wales, support people with autism, mental health needs, learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries to live as independently as possible.
One person who uses these services in Cheshire is Stephen*, who has autism and moved into an Accomplish Group supported living service in 2018 after spending 12 years in residential settings.
Throughout his life, Stephen has experienced a number of challenges which limited his quality of life and limited the kinds of activities he could enjoy. However, since moving to his new home the team have worked extremely hard to support him to build his confidence and help him achieve fantastic outcomes.
Thanks to his positive relationship with the staff team, Stephen has been enjoying a huge range of experiences both locally and further afield, as well as making more friends and recently enjoyed a trip abroad for the first time on holiday.
The team was announced as having been Highly Commended by the judges at a special ceremony held virtually for the first time.
Ryan Brummit of Accomplish Group said: “This is a fantastic achievement and we couldn’t be more pleased for the team.
“They work extremely hard to give the best possible support everyone who uses our services, supporting people to have the very best life they can, doing the things they enjoy and to do so while living in their own home.
“These are things which can so often be taken for granted, but which are not always so easy to achieve when a person experiences challenges or difficulties. Stephen’s quality of life has improved immeasurably and that is in no small way down to the dedication and commitment of the team supporting him.”
