Elm House
About Us
Elm House specialises in supporting adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism. We offer person-centred support from a dedicated staff team trained to meet individual needs. Our focus is on fostering independence and helping each person achieve their own goals and aspirations.
We go the extra mile to support individuals in reaching their full potential. Our aim is to enhance understanding of Learning Disabilities and Autism, develop effective coping strategies for managing anxieties, and build independent living and social awareness skills, enabling successful community integration.
Our Approach
At Elm House, a small yet impactful service, significant strides are made daily for the adults who rely on the support. They are given opportunities to learn and grow continually, fostering an environment where each individual’s potential is maximised. Central to Elm House’s approach are the Spectrum Star and Learning Disability star methodologies, carefully tailored to cater to the specific needs of individuals with Autism and other learning disabilities.
Elm House’s commitment to providing personalised care shines through in the implementation of person-centred care plans and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies. These plans are meticulously crafted to address the unique needs and aspirations of each person supported, empowering them to achieve their goals within a nurturing environment.
In a setting where verbal communication may be limited, observing the smiles and positive body language of the people supported holds profound significance. It’s a testament to Elm House’s dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where people feel valued and encouraged to showcase their abilities. Elm House strives to bring out the best in each individual, fostering an environment where everyone can flourish.
Accommodation
Elm House provides a welcoming environment tailored to diverse needs, featuring five bedrooms, three ensuites, and thoughtfully designed living spaces for comfort and privacy. The people we support can socialise in the spacious lounge or find tranquility in the conservatory for quiet reflection. A secondary dining area in the quiet room promotes cosy meal times. Accessible through the conservatory, a small garden offers outdoor relaxation. Our open kitchen fosters independence and culinary exploration among the people we support.
Location
Conveniently situated in the charming town of St Neots, Elm House offers the people we support easy access to a wealth of amenities and attractions. Just a 20 to 25-minute walk from the St Neots train station, individuals can explore nearby destinations such as Peterborough, Huntingdon, Sandy, and even London. The town’s bus station, a 15-minute walk away, provides additional transportation options to Cambridge, Bedford, Huntingdon, and Milton Keynes. Within walking distance, individuals can immerse themselves in the vibrant town centre, which boasts an array of shops, supermarkets, and leisure facilities.
Elm House provides entertainment options like the nearby Cineworld cinema or a refreshing swim at the One Leisure centre, both just a short stroll away. For a fun outing, individuals can partake in a friendly game of bowling at Eat N Bowl, accessible within a leisurely 25-minute walk. Additionally, essential services such as doctors’ facilities at Almond Road are conveniently located just a 20-minute walk from Elm House.

Good News Stories
Elm House are thrilled to share some heart-warming success stories, showcasing the incredible progress and achievements of the people we support.
One individual has been flourishing at college, acquiring a wealth of new skills. However, transitioning these skills to home life proved challenging. During the summer break, Elm House devised a plan to replicate her college activities at home, incorporating fun and engaging activities such as pizza making, gardening, and crafting. By maintaining a routine similar to her college days, she thrived, demonstrating how routine and structured support can positively impact individuals with autism.
Another inspiring moment occurred when one of the people we support independently made a sandwich at home for the first time in their life. Their mother was overwhelmed with joy and disbelief, as this simple act represented a significant milestone. Through the team’s dedicated use of active support and skill-building techniques, they empower individuals to develop essential life skills and achieve greater independence. It’s moments like these that reinforce the commitment to providing meaningful support and enhancing the lives of those we care for at Elm House.
