Honeybrook House Awarded Accredited Service Status

We are delighted to  announce Honeybrook House has been awarded the prestigious National Autistic Society Accredited Service status.

Honeybrook House was awarded the accreditation after assessors found the home, which supports nine people, demonstrated consistently good autism practice. In particular, the NAS was “impressed by staff consistency in promoting the emotional well-being of those being supported” at the Accomplish Group service.

The NAS ‘Autism Accreditation’ is the UK’s only autism-specific quality assurance programme of support and development for all those providing services to autistic people. It is a way for organisations to show they offer excellent support to autistic children and adults.

During a two-day assessment, assessors explored how the service approached person-centred care, communication, training and support for staff and sensory input. The service’s planning, support of people’s emotional well-being and “excellent” preparation for activities were also praised.

Assessors also praised innovations at Honeybrook including Honeybee Café, located in the extensive grounds of Honeybrook House, which offers a vocational setting for autistic people to develop self-help and vocational skills. It is also an area where family members come to visit and enjoy being treated to food and drinks prepared by the people supported at the service.

As well as the assessment visit, the people supported at Honeybrook House, and their families, were asked for their opinion and experience of the services. One relative told the NAS that they: “Couldn’t recommend Honeybrook House highly enough – they have fun, he’s at his home, not a care home.”

Another said: “He’s come forward in leaps and bounds, (they are) encouraging him to verbalise, he is coming out with little phrases. He called me dad for the first time in 25 years. I can’t praise the staff highly enough.“

Ryan Brummit, Divisional Managing Director at Accomplish Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Honeybrook House and its fantastic support of people with autism has been recognised in this way. The team are absolutely committed to providing the very best care possible for the people we support and this accreditation is a reflection of their hard work and dedication.”
