Pathway's In House DJ

DJ sets played by a person we support at Pathway House, have proved to be a huge hit.

David, who has cerebral palsy and mental health needs, has previously struggled to enjoy activities in the community and need to be supported by three team members at all times. He moved to Pathway House, in Wyboston, Bedfordshire, from an inpatient service three years ago.

Since being supported at Pathway House, he has enjoyed a wide range of activities and trips including visiting football grounds, trips to London, Madame Tussaud’s and going to discos.

Pathway House Manager Kate Houseago said: “The team take a very proactive and positive risk management approach and this has been really beneficial for David. He didn’t go out very much before but since he’s been supported here, we’ve listened to him and what he would like to do and we’ve made those happen.

“He has a great love of music and has all the kit needed for playing sets as a DJ, which he loves and which he’s very good at. As well as regularly going to the venue to play his music for himself – so he can have it as loud as he likes! – he has also played a number of sets for audiences at the venue and we hope the next will be on Valentine’s Day.

“For the moment they’re events for people supported by Accomplish and people who work across the Group. Everyone’s really enjoyed them. They’re not only a great chance for David to share his skills, they’re fantastic social events too.”
