The Haven in Haverfordwest opened at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but despite the challenges that has brought, has over the past 12 months offered residential specialist care for people with a learning disability and autism.
The service held a special celebration with cake and balloons to mark its first birthday and hopes to hold a larger party with loved ones and other special invited guests as soon as COVID-19 restrictions allow.
In spite of the challenges posed by COVID-19, over the past year the team at The Haven have worked incredibly hard to support people at the service to live as independently as possible.
Manager Rachel Charnley said: “When we opened The Haven we could never have anticipated that a year later COVID-19 would still be presenting the challenges it is.
“Throughout the year, the staff team here have been amazing and have really gone above and beyond to support people – helping them to stay in touch with their families when opportunities for visits in person were limited and to continue to do the things they enjoy.
“It’s been wonderful to celebrate our first anniversary and we look forward to having a proper party with loved ones and other special guests as soon as we can.”
