Ty Arfryn
Our Support
At Ty Arfryn we support six people with complex Mental Health needs. We enable them to develop their skills, strengths and resilience. We help people to develop their own set of resources to self-manage and stay well. We provide the right support to assist individuals in developing coping techniques which can make a noticeable difference in their everyday lives. We understand that everyone is an individual and their needs may vary, but whatever the persons situation or however complex their needs are we will encourage, support and motivate them on their unique journey towards independence.
Our Approach
We recognise that everyone is different, so we adapt our support to suit each person’s needs. We offer the right environment to enable mental and physical well-being. We support people to maintain their identity whilst we work with them to regain their self-confidence and start to manage their own Mental Health and relapse.
Positive Outcomes
Our aim is to improve everyone’s social awareness skills which are further developed through accessing the community. Our approach offers people access to college, travel training and leisure activities. We work alongside individuals to help them build their future and increase personal empowerment. We support everyone to have access training, volunteering, education and where possible employment opportunities. We are committed to enabling people to move on and step down to more independent models of support.
Progression Pathway – Studio Apartments
Our two studio apartments offer a clear progression pathway, within a residential support setting. The pathway offers an opportunity for self-development and maximum personal growth, regardless of complex health and social care needs. The apartments provide a private space for staff to enable skill development or coaching sessions. People can trial independence in a setting which has 24 hour staffing available, to assist with development of their life skills. We feel that the creation of our semi-independent transition studio apartments, enables people who want to live more independently, take those first steps to greater independence within a safe, risk managed environment.
Accommodation
Ty Arfryn is a detached property with its backdrop of the pictorial Towy valley. Surrounded by large gardens, there are two individual studio apartments and four en-suite bedrooms. There is also a communal lounge, bathroom and kitchen/diner.
Case Study
Holly* spent the last 5 years in hospital, where her care coordinator helped her transition into a placement at Ty Arfryn.
When Holly moved in, she was in ore with all the amenities the home could provide her – a wardrobe, chest of draws, plug sockets in her room, a proper shower and double bed, even a TV. All these things that Holly never had whilst being in hospital.
Holly* was very nervous to begin with, but settled in fast. She found it amazing at the freedom she got, such as going to walks, interacting with staff and help with shopping.
Holly is now settled with her self confidence growing day by day. She has her bad days, where things can get tough especially with the current restrictions. She has still managed to achieve her goals, and even applied for a job, which was something she previously could not do. Holly has said ‘she is no longer the forgotten scared girl in hospital, but now I am me’, and that is all thanks to the team at Ty Arfryn.
